Shaleigh and Zach Engaged!

It was just another Saturday night, until it wasn't. When the waiter brought out the check, he was on one knee asking her to spend the rest of their lives together. She said yes. And this summer she will marry the hardworking, smart, handsome man that makes her so happy. They are so in love.

Sunday morning we took a drive up Hyalite just looking to find some Montana beauty. We weren't disappointed at all. It was a slippery, slow drive to the lake, but once we got there, breathe taking. The sun graced us with its presence at just the right time. We toasted marshmallows for breakfast and breathed in the fresh mountain air. They snuggled up as the wind blew in and we knew our time was up. It was a perfect Sunday morning session, in God's country. Shaleigh and Zach, thanks for a fun session. I look forward to capturing you love birds on your wedding day.

simply cali

We've had a busy fall. An extra busy fall felt like this year. But it was good. We worked hard. And with opposite schedules it had been a while since I had really spent time with my husband, or myself. It was time for a getaway. When the invite came to come to Cali to celebrate a birthday we jumped. Time to go. Just me and you. We left the boys with grandma and grandpa for three nights and three days and hit the skies, Cali bound. Carried on, no extra bags, toys, diapers, pack and plays or books. I even left home without my camera. simply Cali.

For the first time in quit a long time I felt light, simple. I let everything go. There as no... what comes next, what do I need to bring, who is hungry, what needs to be cleaned, washed or swept. No looking a the weeks calendar trying to stay one step ahead. I simply let go of all the what needs to be done next and lived in each moment. For three days. We celebrated family. We sipped and dipped and put our toes in the sand. We talked and laughed and even cried. We explored and tasted and dreamt. Weightless. It was a weekend I won't ever forget and will most certainly repeat. Because we all need to live simply, even for three days. Until next time Cali.

Sweet, sweet Sage!

This is Sage. She's sweet. She come from a sweet family. She has a sweet heart and big dreams. I can tell you that this girl will make an impact on the world one day, in fact she already has. This girl rocked her senior session as we chased the sun till it was gone! Enjoy your senior year sweet Sage! And alway remember to reach for those stars!

Montana Maternity

It was a beautiful Montana evening, a perfect night for a maternity session and just in time before their new addition will enter the world on Friday! Thank you Zito Family for letting me capture this special time in your lives and I am excited for the coming year!

Becca and James get married!

These two couldn't be more perfect for each other. Silly, sweet and so in love. The whole day you could just feel the love radiating from each other, their friends and their family. A group that I was so blessed to work with. I felt like one of the fam after shooting this wedding. Becca and James, I wish you so much happiness in your marriage! Thanks again for letting us capture your very special day!

Here's Jade! Senior 2015

This girl is a gem. An all-around beautiful girl inside and out. We laughed the entire session (well she laughed at my laugh, but the energy was great). Just one of those girls that is fun to be around and lucky to have met. Jade, you are going to do extraordinary things in this world, I just now it! Go get em girl!

The first look... from the second shooter's point of view

I love the first look. No matter how a couple decides to do it. Traditional, waiting till that very moment the bride walks down the isle or the more non traditional first look before the ceremony when it's more set up for the photographer to grab. Either way there is always that excitement of seeing your love dressed in their wedding attire. There is always emotion, that big smile, sometimes tears, of pure bliss! It's one of my favorite parts of shooting a wedding. The emotion. And on Cassie and Rich's wedding day I was able to shoot their first look from a different look so to speak, as the second shooter. The best part of having two photographers at your wedding is the many different angles and perspectives that two people can see one thing. I'm sure Morgan's (Moragan LaMare Photography check out her awesomeness at www.morganlamare.com, she's pretty great. A very special thanks for letting me tag along with you.) photos of this same moment are very different from mine! From a second shooters point of view... The first look!

Miss Madi, SENIOR!

My weekend started off pretty great, with a Friday early morning session with this beautiful senior! Yes, early Friday morning! I love finding clients who are willing to get up a little earlier than normal to enjoy the beautiful morning light with me, sometimes its a nice change of pace. And miss Madi was such a ball of sunshine! Spunky, friendly and fierce! Oh and we encountered some chickens, very friendly chickens. Thanks for a fun session girl!

Liam turns one!

I absolutely love returning clients, especially little ones whom I get to photograph the first year of their lives, the fun milestones like learning to sit up and stand and then of course their first sugar high! Mr. Liam has been smiling at me since day one. He's such a handsome little guy with a great big, melt your heart smile! Happy Birthday Liam, you were a joy to work with this year and I look forward to seeing you again in the future!

Alex and Kurt get married!

If you haven't been to Paradise Valley outside Livingston Montana, it's definitely worth the trip, no matter how far you have to come. Let me tell you, it's God's country alright! This happy couple picked Deep Creek Range as their backdrop to say their vows and celebrate with their friends and family. The ceremony, simple and sweet while emotions ran high as they devoted to spend the rest of their lives together. The day was beautiful in so many ways. Thank you Alex and Kurt for letting us capture your wedding day and we wish you many many happy years together!

#EKPHOTOADAY

June was fun. You may have seen some pretty random photos on Instagram this month. That's because we were capturing little pieces of our everyday lives and sharing our daily photos with Photo A Day with Erin Kaye. One word. One photo. I looked forward to seeing all your photos on a daily basis and had fun finding and photographing the word of the day with you all. It was pretty neat seeing how one word can been "seen" in SO many different ways. The winner was picked this afternoon, drawn at random, not based on what  the photos looked like, but simply because they were taken. The were all really great, but here are a few of my favorites.... Until next time, thanks for playing and keep posting those great picks! Oh I almost forgot, and the winner is.... JULIA JANE, my beautiful beautiful bride-to-be!

Shannon, SENIOR 2015

I couldn't have asked for a better way to start my week off! Bright and early Monday morning I met this beautiful girl for her senior session. Not only a stunning girl on the outside, but a such a sweet, smart girl on the inside as well. She rocked her session from the first frame. Just see for yourself! Thanks Shannon again for a fun shoot!

why do you run?!?

The most common question I get when I tell people I'm going to run a marathon...WHY? Well good question.... Let me first start off by saying that running didn't come naturally to me, it wasn't something that I feel in love with right away, in fact anything over a mile completely sounded like peer torture to me. Growing up I was always involved in sports, I loved being a part of a team, I thrived on competition. It's the rush, the feeling you get when you step on that court in a packed gym with the band playing and the crowd cheering. The same feeling an athlete gets when they score a goal, or hit a home run or cross the finish line first. The reason we play sports. The rush. It doesn't just come to you, you must earn it. You put in the time, the sweat, the tears. It's having a goal and reaching that goal through hard work. And after high school that all just kind of ended. Yes, I played a few pick up games here and there and joined a couple teams in college, but for some reason it wasn't the same for me. Then I started running. And it wasn't until after college that I feel in love with running.

I clearly remember the moment when I decided to run my first marathon. I was talking with a friend, who is a veteran marathon runner, about all the marathons he'd run that year. I made the comment, I could NEVER do that. He looked me straight in the eye. "Yes. You. Can". And that was it. At that very moment I decided to train for my first marathon. Five months later, he was right. I could do it.

Running for me is my time. Just me. Being a stay at home mom, while trying to run a business, be a good wife and coach basketball gets to be overwhelming at times. But the two hours in the morning when it's just me, I get to reload. Shake off the cobwebs from the day before and find my balance again. I find my inter peace on my run. And I'm ready for the day.

And now as I approach my second marathon this Saturday in Seattle I am bombarded by the question, why? Well because I can. Because for me I get that rush. That overwhelming feeling that I accomplished something that I worked so very hard to get. Not only physically, but mentally as well. It's amazing what the body can do, when you fully put your mind to it. I found that my hardest runs where days when I couldn't get my mind where it needed to be. Everything would be working beautifully from the neck down, but I couldn't occupy my mind. With five days left to go, the miles limited this week, I will be concentrating on keeping my mind full of positive thought. I'm ready to go. I've put in the miles, a lot of miles. Got up two to three, sometimes four hours before everyone else to fit in a three hour run. There has been some pretty painful bumps and bruises along the way, but come Saturday mid day I know that I will feel that rush again. And it will all be worth it. And that's why I run. I love it.

And of course the beauty that surrounds Montana... A gallery of the past three months morning miles :)

Misty and Clint, about to tie the knot....

I got to Misty and Clint's property just outside Bozeman last night and the first thought that came to my mind..this place is a little slice of heaven. To me, it said Montana through and through. This beautiful couple warmed up quickly and by the end of the evening I came home with some beautiful images! Misty and Clint, I am very excited to be a part of your wedding come September...
